'The War-Time Woman'
1940s Study Day.
Saturday 19th of May 2012.

The Society is excited to announce a day celebrating the struggles and triumphs of the average woman's wardrobe during Britain's darkest hour!

The programme is still subject to alteration but will (probably) include;
Special guest speaker Geraldine Howell, whose book on the Utility Scheme is soon to hit the bookshelves!
A workshop exploring the perils of unmarked 40s paper dress patterns encountered by the modern dressmaker and 40's re-enactors.
An in-depth and fascinating lecture given by Mrs. Sheila B.Shreeve MBE on the developments of war time clothing.
A chance to get up-close and personal with the genuine article - Original 1940s garments and accessories from Walsall Museum's nationally significant Hodson Shop Collection, including many rare pieces of genuine CC41 Utility clothing.
Demonstrations of how to achieve the perfect pin-curl or victory roll.

This study day is especially suitable for 1940s re-enactors or retro enthusiasts, as well as fashion students and general costume enthusiasts. We might even throw in a spam fritter and some powdered egg.

Places are strictly limited, but if over-subscribed we may run the programme again at a later date. Seats are free to any member who has paid their annual subscription, anyone else it will cost £10.
